Wild Oats, Sessile Bellwort - Uvularia sessilifolia • (Lily family - Liliaceae) • The creamy, drooping flower differs from the Large-Flowered and Perfoliate Bellworts by having tips that are less pointed and more contracted. The leaves are sessile, not surrounding the stem as in the Perfoliate, and the flower stem is angled (see photo right). 6- 13 in.

 



Woods and thickets. The drooping flower reminded Linneaeus of the uvula, the flap of tissue hanging from the roof of the oral cavity; hence, the generic name.
