Garlic Mustard - Alliaria officinalis (Mustard family - Cruciferae) Note the somewhat triangular or heart-shaped leaves (stalked and sharply toothed). 1 - 3 ft. Roadsides, waste places, wood edges. As a member of the mustard family, the plant produces erect seed pods.

 

 

 

 

When it is crushed, it emits the odor of garlic, which explains its common and generic names (allium, the Latin for "garlic"). It was long used as a condiment or salad green by country people. The petals are in the form of a cross. Alien.
