Golden Ragwort - Senecio aureus (Composite or Daisy family - Compositae) The ragworts with their flat-clusters bloom much earlier than other members of this family, which they resemble, such as the golden asters, camphorweed and gumweed.

 

 

 

They may also be distinguished from them by their sparse rays (8 - 12) and finely cut leaves. The basal leaves of this species are heart-shaped and long-stemmed. 1 - 3 ft. Wet ground, low places, swamps, meadows.
