Pale or Cream Violet - Viola striata (Violet family - Violaceae The flower has 5 creamy white petals, the lower one purple-stained and spurred, the side ones strongly bearded and striped with purple. On slender stalks from leaf axils.



 

Heart-shaped leaves, toothed, alternate with fringed appendages (stipules) where the leaves are attached to the stem. This differs from the Canada Violet in that it does not have yellow at the base of the petals and is lacking purple on the back. Low woods, stream banks. 6 - 12 inches.
