Moth Mullein - Verbascum blattaria (Snapdragon family - Scrophularisceae)

 

Moth Mullein - Verbascum blattaria (Snapdragon family - Scrophularisceae) A white flower is more common in some places, the yellow in others. The common name derives from a fancied resemblance of the woolly anther filaments to the antennae and tongue of a moth.

 

 

 

Fields, waste places, roadsides. Note the scant leafage and buttonlike buds, orange anthers and purplish beards on the stamens. 2 - 4'.
