Long-spurred Violet - Viola roastrata(Violet family - Violaceae) • Note the extremely long spur and toothed stipules in leaf axils. Petals pale lavender, the lower 3 with darker lines. All petals beardless. 4 - 8 in. Rich woods, limy soil.




This was found growing along with the American Dog Violet (V. conspersa) one of the most common species of purple ("blue") violet with leaves and flowers on the same stalk. It has are toothed stipules in the leaf axils.
