This tour begins at the Clinton Hedrick Community
Building in Riverton. The unmarked entrance from US Rt. 33 is adjacent
to Raines's Exxon and a sign well back from the road identifies
the grounds as the Spruce Mt. Ruritan Club Park.
Begin the tour by exiting from the parking lot
at the far end, turning right on the paved road parallel to the
river. At 0.1 miles turn left at the stop sign, cross bridge and
at 0.4 miles, turn right on Roots Run Road (Rt. 9/5)
The road is paved but narrow, and it gradually
ascends alongside the stream for which it was named. At 3.3 miles
turn left on US Rt. 33 and continue ascending North Mt. until at
4.7 miles, you make a left turn onto the Bland Hills Road (Rt. 5/8).

Notice: This road contains cattle guards. The
mesh type may be easily ridden over but the pipe type may need to
be walked across. Don't be surprised if you encounter sheep or cattle
in the road during your ride. This is a winding, rolling paved road
that traverses the ridges and valleys flanking North Mt.
At 7.0 miles, take
a left on Horse Ridge Road (Rt. 9/4) and descend to its end at 8.6
miles, where you turn left on the Germany Valley Rd. (Rt.
9).
After passing the intersection with Roots Run Road
at 8.7 miles, retrace your route
(0.5 miles) to the starting point.
