This tour begins at the Schmucker Community Center
near Upper Tract. To reach the starting point from Franklin, take
U. S. Rt. 220 north 10.6 miles to Upper Tract and turn right onto
Schmucker Rd. Travel 2.5 miles to the Schmucker Community Center
grounds on the left, just after passing Poor Farm Rd. on the right.
Begin the tour by turning left onto Schmucker Rd.
At 0.6 miles, continue straight at the intersection with Kiser Gap
Rd., which is confusingly also the name of what should logically
be a continuation of Schmucker Rd. At 1.2 miles, turn right onto
Greenawalt Gap Rd., noting the ruins of a mill and water wheel just
ahead on the right. Begin a long gradual ascent along appropriately
named Mill Run. At 5.6 miles, veer left and pass by an unmarked
dirt road on the right that is a turn for Loop #14 (the South Fork
Mt. Loop).

Top out at 6.3 miles, having just passed a large
poultry farm. At 7.1 miles turn left onto Snouffer Rd., which becomes
a somewhat rough dirt and gravel road at 7.3 miles, dipping and
winding through logged-over forest land.
At 8.5 miles, begin a steep descent of what is
now Kesner Mt. Rd., and is paved starting at the 9.3-mile mark.
The road falls and rises through pastoral countryside and at 11.6
miles begins a final descent to the main road, reaching bottom at
12.4 miles.
Turn sharply left at the stop sign and at 13.8
miles, turn right following the road straight back to the starting
point, 1.2 miles away.
